President-elect Donald Trump will nominate the Chairman and CEO of ExxonMobil (one of the world’s largest and most respected companies), Rex Tillerson, as Secretary of State.
Many conservatives and Republicans criticized Donald Trump his pick for secretary of state. Rex Tillerson worked for over 40 years at oil giant exxonmobile. He has worked with multiple countries and governments his entire career. He has been (to a certain extent) already a diplomat. He has many relations with foreign leaders and governments and could be a very successful secretary of state. But like the president-elect Donald Trump himself, Rex Tillerson does not have any government experience whatsoever. That is a major issue to some people. But the biggest controversy is by far his ties to Russia and the head of state Vladimir Putin himself. Rex Tillerson has had massive deals, worked with governments and corporations. He is a world class businessman, working everywhere in the world. It's the job of the CEO to make big profits and to bring in contracts for the company you're running. Rex Tillerson has been handling billions of dollars running ExxonMobil, about 340 billion. Some have argued that Tillerson, as a representative of Exxon, has built a relationship with Russia, receiving an award from Putin and opposing sanctions against that country. Many pundits view this association negatively, yet, at the same time, consider Iowa governor Terry Brandstad’s friendly ties to Chinese president Xi Jinping a positive component of his appointment as Ambassador to China. CNN said Brandstad was “uniquely well-suited because of his close relationship with Xi.” The main difference here is that Brandstad built his relationship with China a representative of Iowa while Tillerson built his relationship with Russia (and other countries) as a representative of Exxon. As Secretary of State, Tiller would instead represent the interests of the United States. He is definitely qualified to handle America her diplomatic duties on the world stage. His views on climate change doesn't matter whatsoever. Secretary of state Rex Tillerson is not going to deal with social issues. Donald trump has stated that he wouldn't appoint political hacks to negotiate and do Americas business. And Rex Tillerson is exactly that. A man who has integrity according to people close to him. He is ruthless and has avoided prosecution being smart and making the right decisions, he is not a political hack and his IQ is off the charts. That's exactly what Donald Trump was looking for. Not a bureaucracy that has been in office forever. But someone that knows how the world works and can make the best deal possible for the country. We at PT are very happy with Rex Tellirson as secretary of state. A very smart and competent man, with life and business experience. The last thing we need is another political hack like John Kerry with much ‘’experience’’ for another 8 years. We are better off with a ruthless, smart Dealmaker who has never been a bureaucrat and has a background of getting things done. Doing deals, is getting things done. He is an experienced and accomplished negotiator, As the chief executive of a $370 billion global company with operations in approximately 50 countries, Tillerson has experience managing a large operation. The scope and range of operations at Exxon is tremendous, including: oil exploration, construction, logistics, high technology research and development, marketing, sales, human resources, compliance and, of course, pumping oil. The Secretary of State runs an institution with a budget of $65.9 billion that operates in nearly every country in the world and includes a wide array of operations, including: visa services, services for Americans abroad, national security participation, trade promotion, diplomatic security and, of course, high level diplomacy. Compared to a politician, academic or diplomat, Tillerson clearly has the management experience. Tillerson has diplomatic experience – representing Exxon instead of the United States. He knows world leaders and understands their motivations. Tillerson has had to address the concerns of foreign leaders, incentivize them to work with him. This mirrors U.S. needs: a top diplomat who realistically addresses the motivations of foreign leaders and convinces them to work with—not against—the U.S. Tillerson joined Exxon in 1975, and was promoted for his accomplishment. Tillerson would not be satisfied to travel the world and pose for photo-opts. Exxon has been amongst the most profitable global companies because of its accomplishments. Tillerson could bring that drive for success to represent the U.S. around the world. Rex Tillerson’s career is the embodiment of the American dream, again just like the president-elect himself. So we want to ask all conservatives who are worried about Rex Tillerson to give him a chance and take another close look at his record and keep in mind as secretary of state, he has nothing to do with social issues whatsoever. We believe the ties to Russia Rex Tillerson has been an asset to a certain extent, because he will be able to strengthen and repair our relations with Russia. Russia is a nuclear armed super power. Like it or not, we are going to have to repair our relations with Russia and see them for what they are: a super power. Just ignoring their power in the world would be a big mistake and a diplomatic disaster. We can repair relations and be a healthy oppesate advisory at the same time. No need for war talk and tensions between a nuclear armed world power and a nuclear armed super power. And Rex Tillerson will actually be a big help dealing with Russia and other countries on the planet. All we at PT are saying is: give him a chance.
